Acrylic, watercolor paper, oil pastels on wood panel 30" x 30" x 2.5" 2018 Private Collection Presenting Dixie, a witty, attentive, and smart Boston Terrier with a heart of gold. She had two priorities in life – eating as much peanut butter as possible and soothing children.
She was the talk of the town at Lakewood Elementary for her ability to comfort lively little ones and even… teach math! It all came about one day when her owner, a young, fresh out of college teacher had the idea to use Dixie to help students remember the steps for long division. She would say: “Always remember: Dixie Makes Super Chewy Brownies.” The first letter of each word representing the steps to divide. “Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Compare, Bring down.” Wildly popular and beloved, 14 years later Dixie is fondly remembered in our home. |
