Candace is one of those people whose presence is felt as soon as they enter a room. I admire the way she carries herself with such confidence. Interestingly, during our conversation, she shared that many people find her intimidating. She's always wondered if her assertiveness would be perceived differently if her skin was lighter.
Being a twin has defined a significant part of Candace's life. During their younger years, even though their mother encouraged them to establish their individual identities, she would dress them alike. This often led to their being associated as a pair, which hindered their abilities to grow as individuals. Although, in the end, both grew into the self-assured women they are today. Candace continues to be unapologetically herself, which is an excellent lesson for us all: to embrace who we are and never apologize for it.
